Management Expertise
At Royal Host, our core strength comes from our team's proven management capabilities and our ongoing commitment to training; we have developed a team with unparalleled expertise in the following areas:
Standards of Operation
Through relentless training and ongoing performance
management, the Royal Host team has repeatedly
demonstrated superior service delivery. The key
elements include housekeeping manuals, maintenance
manuals, succession plans, appraisals and activity
plans, training schedules, and employee empowerment.
Operational Cost Control
With one of the most innovative management accounting
systems in the Canadian property management industry,
Royal Host is renowned for superior operational
cost control. A number of elements of the system
contribute to this success, including a proven
purchase order system, daily expense reporting
by property, established authority levels, centralized
accounting, and accurate expense forecasts. Centralized
functions include reporting, operational analysis,
cash management, accounts payable, payroll and
benefits, and financial statements.
Ongoing Maintenance of
the Property
The Royal Host mandate is to invest 4% of gross
income annually into the properties, assuring ongoing
development and redevelopment. In 2005, we anticipate
investing a total of $8 million for upgrades and
additions. This commitment ensures funding for
frequent renovations. Royal Host has an expert
team that focuses exclusively on renovations and
upgrades to properties.
Services Management
As part of current management agreements, Royal
Host manages a range of food and beverage programs,
including prepackaged fresh food for vending and
airline operations, family style restaurants, and
high quality restaurants. Royal Host also manages
convention, retail, and fitness facilities.
Management Information
With a state-of-the-art management information
system, Royal Host generates daily reports about
each of the properties, including wages, utilities,
hours worked by department, overtime, sales, and
occupancy. These reports are reviewed by local,
regional, and central management to ensure cost
control is always optimized. On a weekly basis,
both sales and profit forecasts are generated for
the properties, and on a monthly basis, all of
this data is converted into P&L reports.
